Week long sessions underway
“Yoga for All 3.0”, a Five-Day Yoga Workshop, an IIM Shillong yoga workshop initiative to mark the 3rd International Yoga Day, got underway on 21st June at the Institute with daily practice sessions till 25th June. The workshop was set to host multiple Yoga learning sessions both in the morning and evening under the immense guidance of yoga gurus, i.e. Swami Chidananda Ji Maharaj and Swami (Dr.) Dhirendracharya, founders of the Yog Sadhna Mission, a national –scale charitable organization working for the promotion of yoga, naturopathy, and the development of tribal region. The practice sessions were also interspersed with interactive Q&A sessions regarding specific needs, feelings, experiences, and reflections of the participants.
The workshop was inaugurated on June 21, 2017 by Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj, Swami (Dr.) Dhirendracharya and Prof. Amitabha De, Director IIM Shillong, Prof. Santosh K Prusty and Prof. Sanjita Jaipuria, Co-ordinators of the workshop, in the presence of faculty members, officials, and students in attendance. The workshop revolved around two thematic focus: (1) Yoga for Stress Release and Anxiety Reduction and (2) Yoga at Workplace.
The yoga sessions were followed by a healthy breakfast, where minimally processed food items were served to all the attendees in order to sensitize them regarding yogic and natural way food habits.
The students of the Sports Committee, RGIIM Shillong assisted the workshop in promoting and creating awareness amongst the students of the Institute in order to motivate them to participate in the yoga practice sessions. The workshop would also have to present participation certificate to the younger attendees to bring in motivation and pursuance of yoga in their daily life.
