# Based on the profile of the batch. Indicative list includes Behavioural Lab, VUCA, Sustainability, etc
Communication Lab is an important part of the curriculum.
The program participants have a foreign land for in-company training and may have to visit a partner Institution with similar program objectives and earn credits as a part of the global curriculum. The international immersion develops awareness about cultural and communication diversities and helps understand the region's economic, business and geopolitical environment. The in-company training in the foreign land helps them understand the global business processes and practices while comparing and contrasting with those in India and being aware of the disruptive technologies shaping the business processes and practices. By attending the faculty lectures at foreign campus and interacting with professionals, they widen their personal and intellectual horizons to be more confident in leading businesses in the global context. The choice of the courses is in conformation with the program competency goals with the region's flavour and is expected to be diverse from those experienced at IIM Shillong.
The international module of the program has been facilitated by inputs and knowledge sharing by faculty from Fudan University, China; Ocean University, China; University of Newcastle, Australia; EM Lyon Business School, France; IE Business School, Spain; University of Helsinki, Finland, etc. The program participants in the past have spent substantial time understanding the distinctiveness in innovations, business practices and management styles in China. In the coming year(s), participants are expected to get a flavour of African or emerging Asia's management education, styles and practices.
Career Management Services
IIM Shillong's Placement Department, in association with the student placement committee, assists you in broadening your options, whether in your current career or in a different industry or function and is a continuous engagement process. The process includes an assessment of your present status, need and interests. It is followed up with customised career discussion, connecting with corporate speakers for experience sharing, alumni connections, suggestions for skill development, resume review, needed-based workshops on CV writing, interview preparation, impactful communication, international business etiquette, pitching, job-search strategies, etc.
Adaptability is an evergreen skill. There are apprehensions that uncertainty will become more and more prevalent in the business world as we accept the post Covid normality. Today's world expects firms to recover from adversity and advance into new areas, learning to be more adaptable as our circumstances change. The batch participates in workshops on emerging trends where you showcase your skills, approaches, behaviours and managerial acumen in the face of turbulent and unpredictable forces of change.
You demonstrate the spirit of Intrepreneurship by participating in an evaluative business plan / business model competition – to be evaluated by external experts – venture capitalists/ angel investors / Entrepreneurs and facilitated by IIM Shillong's Incubation Centre. Before that, you receive some inputs through experience sharing by Management Consultants and Entrepreneurs. The participants apply what they have learnt by identifying and pitching a new business plan/model before the funders.
