Op-Era, the Operations Club of IIM Shillong, is a special interest group dedicated to promoting Operations and Supply Chain Management. With a passion for excellence in operations, the club strives to spread awareness, drive engagement, and ignite interest in the latest trends, advancements, and best practices in the field. Through thought-provoking publications, dynamic competitions, and impactful industry interactions, Op-Era creates a platform for students, academicians, and industry professionals to explore and enhance their understanding of Operations and Supply Chain Management. From national-level case competitions and corporate panel discussions to skill-enhancing workshops and insightful reports, Op-Era ensures a holistic learning experience through a mix of online and offline events that challenge, educate, and inspire.

About the Club

Online and offline events include:

▪ Optimus

A premier intercollege competition held at regular intervals via Unstop, designed to challenge participants in Operations and Supply Chain Management. With participation from top management institutes across India, Optimus has become a flagship event in the field of operations excellence.

▪ GupShup: Corporate Interaction Series

A platform bridging the gap between industry and academia, ‘GupShup’ brings corporate leaders to campus to share real-world experiences and industry insights. The sessions cover Supply Chain Workshops, Career Advice, Industry Trends, and Leadership Experiences, ensuring knowledge transfer that helps shape future leaders.

Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

In collaboration with the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Op-Era provided students with Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, equipping them with skills in process optimization, problem-solving, and project management. The program, delivered through lectures, and hands-on exercises, enhanced participants’ employability and provided valuable networking Opportunities.

▪ Decoding Supply Chain Report

Op-Era published an in-depth report analysing key sectors such as Semiconductors,Pharmaceuticals, Steel, and Shipping. This report provides comprehensive insights into supply chain challenges, industry trends, and future opportunities, serving as a valuable resource for industry professionals and students alike.

▪ Triviosity

An interactive online Q&A and informatory series on Instagram, where we explored industry insights and trends. During 2024-2025, we deep dived into Quick Commerce and the Semiconductor Industry, offering valuable insights through engaging posts and discussions.

▪ COO Challenge

The COO Challenge is an event for incoming first-year students, designed to introduce them to Op-Era and the world of Operations & Supply Chain Management. This engaging challenge places participants in the role of a Chief Operating Officer (COO), where they must tackle real-world business challenges through strategic decision-making, crisis management, and operational efficiency. It serves as an excellent platform for first years to develop problem-

solving skills and gaining exposure to the club’s activities while competing with peers.

Operations Panel @ BLS 2025

Shrinkhala @ Khlurthma 14.0

Shrinkhala, Op-Era’s National Operations Case Study Challenge, was held in association with ISCEA (International Supply Chain Education Alliance) as part of Khlurthma 14.0, IIM Shillong’s Annual Management Festival. The 2025 edition focused on ‘Re-engineering Global Supply Chains for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth’. The competition attracted top B-school minds to solve real-world supply chain, sustainability, and operational challenges.

▪ Industrial Visit

As part of the recent activities, Op-Era organized industrial visits to provide students with practical exposure to real-world business and manufacturing operations. These visits enabled students to bridge the gap between classroom concepts and industry practices by observing production processes, supply chain activities, quality management systems, and operational workflows firsthand. The initiative also offered valuable opportunities to interact with industry professionals, gain insights into organizational functioning, and develop a deeper 

understanding of contemporary operational challenges and best practices.
