Op-Era, the Operations Club of IIM Shillong, is a special interest group dedicated to promoting Operations and Supply Chain Management. A premier intercollege competition held at regular intervals via Unstop, designed to challenge participants in Operations and Supply Chain Management. It features Case Study Competitions, Quizzes, Article Writing Contests, Simulations, and Strategy Rounds, testing creativity and conceptual clarity. With participation from top management institutes across India, Optimus has become a flagship event in the field of operations excellence.
A platform bridging the gap between industry and academia, ‘GupShup’ brings corporate leaders to campus to share real-world experiences and industry insights. The sessions cover Supply Chain Workshops, Career Advice, Industry Trends, and Leadership Experiences, ensuring knowledge transfer that helps shape future leaders.
In collaboration with the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Op-Era provided students with Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, equipping them with skills in process optimization, problem-solving, and project management. The program, delivered through lectures, and hands-on exercises, enhanced participants’ employability and provided valuable networking opportunities.

The COO Challenge is a event for incoming first-year students, designed to introduce them to Op-Era and the world of Operations & Supply Chain Management. This engaging challenge places participants in the role of a Chief Operating Officer (COO), where they must tackle real-world business challenges through strategic decision-making, crisis management, and operational efficiency. It serves as an excellent platform for first years to develop problem-solving skills and gain exposure to the club’s activities while competing with peers.
As part of the Business Leadership Summit (BLS) 2024, Op-Era hosted a panel discussion on ‘Driving a Future-Ready India: Supply Chain Resilience and Operational Agility in a Disruptive Global Landscape.’ The session brought together industry experts from Schneider Electric, Lam Research, Optum and IIM Shillong alum from Barbeque Nation Hospitality. The session was moderated by Prof. Rohit Joshi from Operations area.
Shrinkhala, Op-Era’s National Operations Case Study Challenge, was held in association with ISCEA (International Supply Chain Education Alliance) as part of Khlurthma 13.0, IIM Shillong’s Annual Management Festival. The 2024 edition focused on ‘Revolutionizing Supply Chain Sustainability with AI-Powered Innovation.’ The competition attracted top B-school minds to solve real-world supply chain, sustainability, and operational challenges.
